Hot summer bite from bays to the rigs! fishing report coverpicture

July 2, 2025

Corpus Christi Bay - Nueces, TX Inshore Report on 2nd Jul, 2025

Anglers fishing in and around Corpus Christi are enjoying classic summer conditions with warm water temps and active fish across the board. Inshore, redfish and speckled trout are the top targets. Early mornings on the flats of Nueces Bay and Laguna Madre are producing steady action on topwaters and soft plastics, especially around grass lines and potholes. Live shrimp under a popping cork is also a solid bet if you're fishing with kids or prefer a more relaxed approach. Flounder are showing up along channel edges and sandy drop-offs, especially near the Packery Channel and the mouth of Oso Bay. Gulp! baits bounced along the bottom have been producing well. Black drum are also cruising the flats and biting on dead shrimp and cut bait. For those looking to fish the surf, whiting, pompano, and occasional jack crevalle are making appearances during calm surf days—best near sunrise or sunset. Offshore reports are heating up too. Boats heading out to the rigs and deeper structure are hooking into kingfish, amberjack, and solid numbers of red snapper, which are still in season. Some mahi and wahoo are being caught by those willing to run further out. The weather has been cooperating, so now’s a great time to book a trip before things heat up even more. Tight lines!

Corpus Christi Flats: Non-Stop Spotted trout Action with FishSwirl fishing report coverpicture

July 1, 2025

Reel in Excitement on Corpus Christi's Productive Flats!

Non-stop bites all day long! Summer fishing in Corpus Christi is hard to beat, and our recent trip with Kyle and their crew proved just that. We set out from Marker 37 Marina in the early morning, greeted by partly cloudy skies. The forecast mentioned a chance of strong storms later, but we were ready to make the most of our time on the water with FishSwirl. With our gear rigged and ready, we hit the flats for some exciting action. Our main targets were Spotted Weakfish, and we employed a variety of techniques to entice them. Sight casting was particularly effective in the clear shallows, allowing us to precisely present our lures to visible fish. We also had success using popping corks, which created irresistible surface commotion. As we drifted across productive areas, we kept our lines in the strike zone, picking up bites along the way. The Spotted Weakfish were cooperative, providing consistent action throughout our 4-hour bay fishing trip. While we didn't measure any monsters, the steady catch kept rods bent and smiles wide. We wrapped up with a great haul and plenty of fish stories to share. If you're looking to experience the thrill of Corpus Christi bay fishing, FishSwirl has you covered with our 4 Hour Bay Fishing Trip. Whether you're an experienced angler or new to the sport, our flats fishing adventures offer something for everyone. We specialize in targeting species like Spotted Weakfish using techniques tailored to our local waters.
